Unexpected Rendezvous

The moment
I start to miss you most
I know what to do.
Between the work and pleasure,
I promise not to measure
The time between our rendezvous.

I’m not waiting
Or counting up the days
Till we meet again
No aching
Or breaking hearts for me
Or suffering or pain
Because now I know how
To function happily
Although I’m happiest
When you are near.

But all I have to do,
Is write a song to you
It fills my time with gladness
While you are away
And if I’m feeling too lonely
I keep writing until we have
An Unexpected Rendezvous

We’ll live
Our Fairy tale once more
Inventing where we’ll meet
Like children
In some enchanted world
Forgetting they should eat.
We know they have tried
A million times before
To leave the signs behind
That they’re in love.

And all I have to do,
Is write a song to you
It fills my time with gladness
While you are away
And if I’m feeling too lonely
I keep writing until we have
An Unexpected Rendezvous

Between the work and pleasure,
I promise not to measure
The time between our rendezvous.
